Choosing the right spot for your solar water pump can make the difference between years of reliable service and constant troubleshooting. Whether you're setting up irrigation for a farm or a water supply system for your home, here's what to consider before you install.
1. Maximum Sunlight Exposure
Your solar panels need direct, unobstructed sunlight for most of the day — ideally 6 to 8 hours. Avoid spots shaded by trees, buildings, or hills, especially during peak sun hours (10 AM to 4 PM). South-facing installations typically get the most consistent exposure across the day in India.
2. Submerge the Pump Directly in the Source
Zeddflow's BLDC pump has no suction capability — it only moves water when the pump itself is fully submerged, so it can't be mounted outside the well or tank and rely on a suction line to draw water up. 3. Full Submersion, Stable Footing

The vertical distance water needs to travel — from source to storage tank or field — directly affects how hard your pump has to work, and water flow decreases as that lift increases. These figures are based on testing with 9mm ID soft tubing — using a wider pipe diameter will lower lift capacity, so stick with 9mm ID tubing for the best performance. Where possible, choose a location that keeps the elevation change between water source and discharge point within this range to get the most consistent flow.
5. Easy Access for Maintenance
Pick a spot you can reach easily for cleaning panels, checking connections, and general upkeep. Solar panels lose efficiency when dusty, so a location that's simple to walk up to and clean regularly will keep your system performing at its best.
6. Away from Debris and Livestock
If you're setting up on a farm, keep the pump and panels away from areas where animals graze or where falling branches and debris are common. A small fence or barrier around the setup can prevent accidental damage.
7. Match Your Voltage Setup Correctly
Location isn't the only thing that determines performance — your wiring setup matters too.
